I have been forecasting for Energy and Commodity Traders and Analysts since 2002. Whilst working for WSI this included daily briefings to a range of clients, with briefings tailored to specific areas and timescales of interest. I would also provide written reports and summaries. I was also required to QC raw data to add personal experience and expertise.
Since Aug 2011 I set myself up as a Consultant Meteorologist, forecasting part-time for a London based Hedge fund. I daily brief a team of energy and commodity traders scattered around the World in critical model fields (mainly temperature/precipitation) in varying regions around the world, on virtually every continent. Using my experience and knowledge the team were able to move into other weather sensitive commodities, especially agriculture related. I have continued to research long term weather patterns and drivers (a field of expertise for me), issuing forecasts up to 6 months out. I was able to give the hedge fund an ‘edge’ over other weather providers using my extensive experience and knowledge.
